2016 Cherry Pie Rodgers Creek Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, 750ml

Cherry Pie
Rodgers Creek
Pinot Noir | 2016 | Sonoma Coast

Tasting Notes

As with the prior vintage, in the 2016 Rodgers Creek Pinot Noir pretty violet floral aromas appear, along with ripe Bing cherry and delicate oak spice notes. On the palate, the wine provides layers of flavors of red ripe juicy cherries, tart cranberries and pomegranate with a subtle cedar note. The complexity found in the palate is further elevated by the integrated and lush tannins that round out the wine, resulting in a decadent, long finish.

Rodgers Creek Vineyard is in the Sonoma Coast AVA. The vineyard is on a low ridge in the Petaluma Wind Gap, a low spot in the Sonoma Coast Range that allows a constant cool flow of air directly from the Pacific Ocean. Well-draining White Rhyolite Volcanic Ash soils prevail in the vineyard allowing the earthiness of our favorite Pommard and 777 clones to shine. Winemaking Notes

We carefully chose the blocks for micro-lot fermentation to isolate the individual flavors and aromas. The wine was fermented in 500 liter French oak puncheons and punched down by hand. The wine was aged in French oak, a portion of which was the same puncheons the wine was fermented in that very year and rested ‘sur lie’ for the entire aging period.
